Accreditation The Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea Gazette 25/02/1870.

ST PETERS CHURCH REDCAR.

On Sunday morning last (20/02), the Vicar read a notice to the effect that William Jellicorse Ledward, Esq., Intends offering himself for holy orders at the ensuing ordination of the Lord Bishop of Carlisle. Mr Ledward, who has long been convicted with the iron trade of this district, has always been zealous and indefatigable lay-worker. When at Eston, he conducted services for the benefit of the work people, with the sanction of Archbishop Longley, before the appointment of a clergyman there. He is also the translator of the valuable and interesting biography of Nicolas Pavilion, is Bishop of Alet; which is the record of the devoted and preserving work of a faithful Bishop in one faithful times, and which shows how the character of one devoted man’s life tells on the people under his charge. Mr Ledward’s first sphere of Labour as a clergyman will be at Barrow-in-Furness, as curators under the Rev. W. Manclerk.
