A FISHING COBLE RUN DOWN AT THE TEES

Early on Thursday morning, 21st inst, the steam tug “Patriot,” owned by Messrs Duncan, of Stockton, was entering the Tees, and passing the entrance buoys, the steamer came into collision with, and sank a coble, in which were a man known as “Curly” Walker and his son. The coble did not carry any light, as required by the regulations of the Tees Conservancy Commission, and therefore those in the steamer were not to blame for what occurred. Both men were rescued from the water, and it was found that the younger one had his collar bone broken, and the elder his back very severely injured. They were conveyed to their home in Stockton, and there received surgical attendance.
