KIRKLEATHAM LOCAL BOARD ELECTION

The result of the first election of nine members to serve on the Local Board for the newly-formed Local Government District of Kirkleatham will be known in a day or two. Of the forty-four candidates originally nominated, 14 have either withdrawn or are disqualified leaving thirty persons for the selection of the ratepayers, viz. :- Thomas Hugh Bell, iron master; Thomas Bradley, builder; Francis Hewlings Cooke, grocer, etc,; John Cowl, gentleman; John Crossley, sanitary pipes manufacturer; John Hikeley, innkeeper; Alfred Hill, manager; James Hogg, ship owner; Alexander Holmes, merchant; John Imeson, gentleman; Pearson Jackson, joiner; Thomas James, manager; Walter Johnston, iron merchant; Thomas William Spink Locke, gentleman; William Love, builder; William Lynas, milk seller; Robert Miller, architect; Robert , Mothersdale, gentleman; William Nelson, builder; Arthur Henry Turner Newcomer gentleman; John Proud, farmer; Thomas Dawson. Ridley, contractor; Edward Robson, mine owner; James Rutherford, land agent; Thomas Shiel, ship broker; John Richard Stubbs, solicitor; Thomas Taylor, shipping agent; Peter Wallis farmer; Thomas Watson, builder; William Cooke Yeo, builder. The voting papers are now in the hands of the ratepayers, and will be collected today (Friday).
