MISSIONS TO SEAMEN – Improved Habits of Seamen.

Accreditation The Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea Gazette 15/05/1886

IMPROVED HABITS OF SEAMEN

There appears to have been great and evident improvement in the spiritual, the moral, and the physical condition of men-of-war’s men, merchant seamen, fishermen, and bargemen, during the thirty years that have intervened since the foundation of the Missions to Seamen.

According to a report adopted at the Annual Meeting at Willis’s Rooms. London, over which the Bishop of Durham presided on Thursday, British sailors and fishermen are far more sober, thrifty and thoughtful than is commonly supposed.
