REDCAR LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday afternoon (03/08). Present – Messrs Coulson (in the chair), Harrison, Johnston, and Mallaby; J. G. Thompson, (clerk), and D. D. Bookless (surveyor).
Minutes, having been read and confirmed, the Clerk reported that the accounts for the year ending 25th of March last, had been audited and certified as correct. He was instructed to publish them in both the Redcar papers.
The bathing and boating regulations were next considered, and a handbill, embodying the resolutions of the Board on these subjects, were ordered to be issued.
The Surveyor reported that Mr Garbutt had infringed the bylaws by leaving manure in Lord Street at 6:40 AM The Board intimated their intention of taking the legal proceedings in any future cases.
The application of Mr John Marwood, rate collector, for an increase of salary, was discussed, and it was resolved that the same be increased to £25 for the current year.
A letter was read from Mr J. L. Castiglioni stating that he wished to lay down flags in front of his bazaar, and asking the Board to lay down kerbstones at once. The surveyor was directed to inform Mr Castiglioni that they could not accede to his application at present.
Plans of alterations in Mr F. Cunningham’s shop, High Street, were rejected, on the grounds that the proposed alterations encroached on the already insufficient yard area.
This was the whole of the business.
