EDUCATION – Elocution Class

 Accreditation the Redcar-and-Saltburn-by the-Sea Gazette 14/01/1870.

On Wednesday evening (12/01), the members of this class assembled in the Chess Room of the central Hall, to meet their old friend, Mr Roscoe, the respected founder of the class. A large number of members were present, and the proceedings were of an interesting character. A quantity of fruit was provided, so as to give a more social tone to the proceedings of the evening than would otherwise have been the case. Speeches on topics connected with the welfare of the class were given by Messrs Crabtree (who presided over the meeting), Roscoe, Barnett, Webster, Bland, Middleton, Mace, Hall, and Taylor.
