THE DISTRESS IN CLEVELAND
Efforts are being made to relieve the most pressing poverty in Redcar by the Church wardens, who are administering funds placed at by their disposal by kind friends. A distribution of soup was made to thirty families on Saturday last, and during the week relief in kind has been dispensed to the most necessitous. The Church wardens, Messrs. Mallaby and Webster, will gladly receive gifts in money or kind towards this object, and poor people in need of help may make application to them.
As the Wesleyans have commenced a soup kitchen, and will give it out twice a week, the fund at the disposal of the Churchwardens will be dispensed in other kinds of food, as the circumstances of each case seem to require.
