UNSANITARY HOUSES AT REDCAR
At Guisborough Court on Tuesday (26/02) William Blatherwick, of Redcar, was charged with allowing a nuisance to exist on premises, 40 and 51 Lord Street, Redcar. Mr Sill appeared on behalf of the Local Board. The evidence of the Surveyor (Mr Armitage) and Medical Officer (Dr. Stainthorpe) showed that the houses were in a damp and dilapidated condition, and totally unfit for habitation. They were both inhabited.
Defendant said he received no rent for No. 51 at all. He had taken pity on a man and allowed him to live in his house. He was prepared to do the necessary repairs of the Board would assist him in getting the outside wall straightened. An order was made for the abatement of the nuisance within a month.
