A DANGEROUS “LARK”
A dangerous “lark” the other evening when some maliciously disposed persons broke into the railway cabin at Upleatham junction, and stole there from, the signalman’s timepiece, destroyed his lamps, and did other mischief. Not being satisfied with this display of wanton mischief, they played all kinds of foolish pranks with the signals and switches, those endangering the lives of the railway passengers. Luckily, the signalman arrived at his post in good time, and was able to re-adjust the switches before the arrival of the train leaving Saltburn at 5.45 the following morning. The railway company have offered a reward of £20 to any person who will give any information leading to the apprehension of the offenders.
