OPENING OF A NEW SCHOOL-ROOM AT WARRENBY
The new school room, built by A. H. Turner Newcomer, Esq., was formally opened on Thursday, the 24th ult. The proceedings commenced with a tea party at 5:30 p.m., which was followed by an entertainment, consisting of readings and vocal and instrumental music. The Rev. Lyndhurst B. Towne, vicar of Coatham, presided. The following was the programme:-
pianoforte solo, Mr. H. A. Jordison; glee, “Sleep while the soft Evening, “Special Quire; song, Mrs. MacKinlay; cornet solo, Mr. J. Hanman; reading, Rev. F. Slater; glee, School Children; song, Miss Dowson; glee, “Where art thou beam of Light,” Choir; pianoforte solo, Mr. H. A. Jordison; glee, Sweet and Law,” Choir; song, Miss Dowson; reading, Mr. J Ohm; cornet solo, Mr. J. Henman; glee, School Children; glee, “Since first I saw that a face,” Choir; “God save the Queen.” The attendance was large and the entertainment was heartily enjoyed. At clause of a cordial vote of thanks was accorded to all who had in any way contributed to the success of the day’s proceedings.
