REDCAR LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

And adjourned meeting of this Board was held on Thursday evening, the eight inst., At the Board-room, West Terrace, Redcar. Present: Messrs. J. H. Webster (in the chair), Coulson, Crabtree, Duff, Fairbridge, Harrison, Mallaby, and Patterson, J. G. Thompson (clerk), and D. D. Bookless (surveyor). Minutes having been read and confirmed the Clerk submitted estimates of a General District Rate of 2s.6d. in the £. And is Special District Rate of 10d in the £. Which were approved. Applications from several owners for compounding of rates were granted. Mr. Duff urged the Board to undertake the watering of the streets, and it was resolved that the Surveyor be powered to make arrangements with the proprietor of the Hydropathic Establishment for the supply of water for this purpose. The Medical Officer (Dr. J. H. Bennett) reported that the sanitary condition of Redcar was good, there being a marked absence of all symotic diseases. Several prams were also passed.
