DEATH – Inquest SUFFELL Joseph Henry (9 months)

 CHILD SCOLDED TO DEATH TEES BREAKWATER. 

                An inquest was held at the Lobster Hotel, Coatham on Saturday (25/07), before T.C. Sowerby, Esq., deputy coroner, touching the death of Joseph Henry Suffell, and nine months old. It seems that on Thursday last (23/07). The child was playing on the half in one of the cottages used by workmen at the Tees Breakwater, when, in consequence of the Hulk giving way, a large pan full of boiling water fell upon the child, scalding it very severely. Mr Locke, surgeon, of Coatham, was sent for, and he did what was possible to relieve the little sufferer, but with no success, and it died about four o’clock on Friday morning (24/07). A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
