DRUNK AND RIOTOUS

            At the Guisborough Petty Sessions, on Tuesday (03/03), before the Rev G J Morehead and J. T. Wharton, Esq., Robert Marley, late a police constable in the North Riding, and George Marley his brother, both miners, at Marske were charged by Sgt Marwood, Redcar, with refusing to quit the Royal Hotel, at Redcar, kept by Mr John Hall, and with being drunk and riotous afterwards in the street, on 27 February last. It was proved, by the evidence of Mr Hall, Mr W. Fairbridge, butcher, and P.C. Simpson, who went to Sgt Marwood’s assistance, that their conduct was very riotous and disgraceful, particularly that of Robert, who was fined one pound and (?) costs, and his brother was fined five shillings and costs, and severely reprimanded and cautioned.
