KIRKLEATHAM – PENNY READINGS ENTERTAINMENT

The first entertainment of the present season took place in the Lecture Room on Friday evening last (27/10), the Rev, J, D, Wawn, vicar, presided in the absence of A. H. Turner Newcomen, Esq. The entertainment was one of the most successful ever given at Kirkleatham, the varied programme being well executed and the audience large and appreciative. The success of these Penny readings is most gratifying and creditable to all, Sir, and, and is a proof that when well, conducted cheap entertainments on winter evenings are appreciated and enjoyed by the people generally.
