ANNOYING AN OLD MAN AT REDCAR

At Guisborough Police Court, on Tuesday (17/05), five young men, named Henry Long, James Blakey, George Goodyear, Edward Ralph, and Walter Blackburn, were summoned for annoying and threatening an old man named John Woodhouse, at Redcar, on Sunday last (21/05). The defendants were alleged to be in the habit of amusing themselves by crying after him “Same Old Hat,” and on speaking to them about it, on Sunday (15/05), they threatened to knock his head off. Mr. Ayrton said he might be fun to a set of young men to try to make complainant lead a miserable life, but it could not be allowed, and they would be bound over in their own sureties of £5 each to keep the peace for three months.
