LAW & ORDER – Sale of Coals at Redcar

Accreditation the Redcar and Saltburn News 12/03/1874

The people of Redcar, visitors to that watering-place, and others whose convenience it may suit to purchase at times small quantities of coals, will be glad to hear that the practice of selling the worst description of coals in small quantities at the price of the very best, having been brought to the knowledge of Mr Smith, that gentleman—with the good principle which ever animates him when abuses are disclosed in his department—suppressed the imposition, and gave orders that in future nothing but the best coals shall be sold in 1 cwt bags, and those at the fair market prices.—Northern Echo.
