LIFE BRIGADE – REDCAR Inspection new rockets

REDCAR LIFE BRIGADE.

            The members of the Redcar Life Brigade were called together on Wednesday afternoon week (03/06) to practice with the new rockets, impressions of Captain Robertson, R. N., surveyor general of rocket apparatus. Within the space of 40 min from the notice of the Brigade being required, the members were gathered together, her course was fetched from the fields and taken to court for the apparatus and everything ready, waiting for the word of command, at the Redcar Lifeboat house. After the inspection, Capt Robertson congratulated Lt Bates upon the efficiency of the members; said he was much pleased with their skill, and that he was glad to see there was such an efficient Brigade in Redcar. The rocket was thrown a distance of 450 yards.
