LIFEBOAT SERVICE AT REDCAR

On Wednesday (23/08) evening, between eight and nine o’clock, the old lifeboat was launched to the rescue of three men who had gone out in the early part of the afternoon for the purpose of marking for the Artillery Volunteers, there being unable to get back in consequence of the heavy sea that was running, which made their position very dangerous. The men were taken on board the lifeboat and brought ashore, little the worse for that exposure, amidst much cheering from an immense crowd which had congregated on the beach.
