VOLUNTEER LIFE BRIGADE INSPECTION AT REDCAR

The quarterly inspection of the Redcar and Coatham Volunteer Life Brigade was held on Monday afternoon (19/02). Captain C. F. Johnson, R.N., Assistant Coastguard Inspector was the inspecting officer. A rocket having been fired, and airline adjusted to the signal mast near the Lifeboat-house, several persons were taken from an imaginary wreck, under the direction of Mr. J. Bates, chief officer of the coastguard.  At the close of the inspection, Capt. Johnson complemented the members of the Brigade on the other, alacrity they have displayed in fixing and working the line, but complained of their not confining themselves to each other’s individual duties, and urged them to study more carefully the instructions in their pocket manuals. The price for throwing the line was worn by Mr. R. Fishwick.
