REDCAR LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING 

            The monthly meeting of this board was held on Thursday afternoon last (05/02), having been adjourned from the previous Monday (02/02). Present—Messrs Harrison (in the chair), Coulson, Johnston, and Mallaby; J. G. Thompson (Clerk), and D. D. Bookless (surveyor). Minutes having been read and confirmed, the application of Mr Richardson, of Ings Farm, to be supplied with water was re–considered, and it was agreed that he be supplied at the discretion of the town. A letter was also great from Mr James Hogg, respecting an error in his water rate, and it was resolved. “That the collector be requested to explain to persons awing arrears of water rate that the receipts which they called bearing date 1st January 1873, have been wrongly dated, and should be 1st January 1872, being for one year payable in advance from the latter date. The Clerk reported that in accordance with a resolution passed at a special meeting on the 15th ult. Notice was served on Mr Crabtree on the 21st ult., r requiring him to give a statement of money he has received on behalf of the, and not accounted for, also to give up any papers in his possession belonging to the Board, within five days. Mr Crabtree had not, however, complied with this notice. He also reported that having looked into the water rate with the collector, he found several items received by Mr Crabtree and not accounted for in the books. After some discussion, in which those present expressed their reluctance to proceed to extreme measures with Mr Crabtree, it was unanimously resolved. “That the Clerk writes to Mr Crabtree informing him that legal proceedings will be taken if an account is not furnished within seven days.”—Some formal business having been transacted, the meeting separated.
