REDCAR LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH

A special meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday night (18/08), at the Board Room, West Terrace, Redcar. Present – Messrs T. Watson (chairman), R. Coulson, W. Fairbridge, J. G. Thompson (clerk, and D.D. Book less (surveyor). The Clerk having read the notice convening the meeting, the Surveyor reported that a falling in of earth had taken players at Throstle Nest, owing to the mining operations, and that a number of sanitary pipes between the spring and the reservoir had been rendered useless, causing a deficiency in the water supply, which had been temporarily remedied. He recommended that a number of 5 inch metal pipes be prepared at once to substitute for the sanitary pipes. The report was received, and the recommendation ordered to be carried out. Revised plan of alterations in Mr F. Cunningham’s premises, High Street, was approved. Plan of seven cottages intended to be built by the North-Eastern Railway Company, was rejected on the ground that no sufficient block plan had been submitted, and that it did not appear whether or not a street plan had already been approved. Plan of 23 cottages, intended to be built by Mr William Chappell, was rejected, on the ground that no block plan accompanied it.
