GALLANT RESCUE FROM DROWNING AT REDCAR

On Monday last (02/08), two gentlemen, who, we understand, reside at Darlington, but refused to give their names, hired one of Mr Skinner’s machines for the purpose of bathing in the sea. Whilst in the water, one of them got out of his depth, and lost all presence of mind. A commercial traveller named Allatt, who was bathing near the spot at the same time, hearing cries for help, volunteered his assistance, and jeopardised his own life, when Mr Skinner, observing that both men were in danger of being drowned, went to the rescue with his life buoy, and thus saved a couple of lives. Mr. Allatt, however, deserves a word of praise for his heroic conduct.
