Fatal Accident at Upleatham Mines

On Monday afternoon (20/06) an inquest was held at the Miners’ Hospital, Marske, on the body of James Bugden 46 years, who had died from the results of an accident in Upleatham Mines on the 13th inst. A quantity of stone came away from the face near the roof, and, a portion falling upon him, broke his left arm and otherwise injured him. He was at once removed to the hospital at Old Marske, where the fractured arm was amputated, but he gradually sank from the shock to his system and expired on Sunday evening. A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
