INQUEST AT WARRENBY – ANDREW. Emily, (16 months)

Inquest was held at the Warrenby Hotel, Redcar, on Wednesday (25/07), before Mr. A. Buchannan, district coroner, touching the death of Emily Andrew, 16 months old, the illegitimate child of EU woman named Elizabeth Ann Andrew. – The deceased was said to have been a sickly child from its birth, and the mother went from home on the 21st inst., and left her in charge of Charlotte Andrew, 16 years old, the child’s aunt; and returned on the 23rd inst., and the child died on that day. Evidence having been given at great length by Charlotte Andrew and a woman named Lisle, Dr. MacKinlay said. From what he knew of deceased and what he had heard from the witnesses, he thought it probable as the mother was suffering from consumption and had been suckling the child up to the time she went away, that deceased had died from this cause. A verdict of “Died from Marasmus” was returned.
