INCIDENT – Blown out to Sea

Accreditation the Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea 27/05/1870.

BLOWN OUT TO SEA.

On Tuesday morning last (22/05), a young man and two females put out to sea in a small boat, with the tide intending to roll to Saltscar and back. When out beyond Saltscar, however, the wind rose, and the tide ebbing fast, the occupants were not able to make headway. They drifted for a considerable distance towards Marske before their critical position was observed, when a boat’s crew told them sure, none the worse for the trip, beyond the alarm occasioned.
