SYSTEMATIC BENEFICENCE SOCIETY 

            A public meeting in behalf of this society was held in the Wesleyan Chapel, on the 17th Inst. The chair was occupied by the Rev W. Westlake, and the Rev R. G. Cather, LL.D., enforced the principles of the Societe in and able and eloquent address, illustrating the obligation and blessing derived from devoting a stated portion of income to religious and charitable purposes by striking examples.

            The annual election of three members for the Local Board, to replace the three retiring members, is just at hand; and, in a day or two the voting papers will be in the hands of every ratepayer. The three retiring members are Messrs Richardson, Cowl, and James Johnson. The retiring members are eligible for re-election, but only the two latter have been nominated. The following are also nominated. :- James Heaton Bennett, M. D.. Scratch that, Henry Moore, and John Holton Webster. Every ratepayer (clear on the books) can vote for any three of the above, and the members elected retain office for three years.
