MILITIA ENCAMPMENT AT REDCAR

On Monday (09/07) the last of the main body of the 4th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry went into camp at Redcar for 28 days training.

Two months ago the recruits arrived and pitched their tents in a field on the Redcar banks belonging to Mr. W. Judson, but latterly they have been on the Race Course, where all the necessary preparations have been made for the older hands.

About 900 men are under canvas, and it is pleasing to learn that no complaint has had to be made by the residents of the town respecting the conduct of the men so far.

The band of the regiment has been engaged to play on the Redcar Pier each Wednesday and Friday during their stay.
