REDCAR LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

APPOINTMENT OF SANDS BAILIFF – PONY LICENCE – MEDICAL OFFICER – WATER SUPPLY – PEDAL CYCYLES

          A special meeting was held on Monday night (17/06), Mr. John Marwood presiding. Mr. Thomas Robinson was appointed from four applicants to the post of sand bailiff at 16 shillings per week to look after the boats, bathing machines, carriages, ponies, &c., and see that the bye-laws are not infringed.

          The question of granting licenses for ponies was discussed at some length, and on the motion of Mr. Hood, seconded by Mr. Lee, it was resolved to licence only ponies not exceeding 12 hands, and only three belonging to the same person.

          A letter was read from Mr. Buchanan relative to the re-appointment of Dr. Stainthorpe as medical officer for the combined Cleveland districts, and it was agreed to join the combination. Mr. Marwood to be the delegate from this Board to meet the others to settle details.

          Notices were ordered to be issued cautioning people against the waste of water, and it was ordered that the water supply be turned off during the night, The clerk was also instructed to issue notices against persons riding on cycles on the esplanade and in the streets.
