SCIENCE CLASS – REDCAR.
We are glad to learn that Redcar is not behind its neighbours in taking up the movement for the education of the working classes. The nucleus of a science class has been formed under the direction of Mr Crabtree, our surveyor, and already the subjects of chemistry, algebra, mensuration, book keeping, and English grammar, have been taken up. The meetings are on Tuesday evenings in each week. At the last meeting, a very pleasing lesson was given by the teacher, on the atmospheric gases, and the subject will be resumed at the next meeting. We strongly urge our young men to avail themselves of the advantages of this class. The teaching is gratuitous, subject only to a small contribution to pay the expense of chemicals, &c.
