REDCAR – Season
Accreditation The Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea Gazette 19/07/1878.
THE SEASON
Visitors have arrived in great numbers at Redcar and Coatham during the past week, and it will be seen from the list in our columns how large an increase has taken place since our last issue. The great attraction at the Redcar Pier at present is the fine band of the North Durham Militia, which performs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, until the 26th inst., on which night the last performance of the band will take place, as the Militia will be disbanded on the 27th. It is expected that the Directors of the Pier will engage another band to succeed the Militia band. Mr. Bayliss’ French Marionettes perform every afternoon at three, and evening at eight, at the Coatham Pier saloon: this entertainment is the best of its kind, and well worthy of a visit. The Improvement Company have not yet provided a band for the grounds at Saltburn; all well wishers of the place hope they will do so shortly, as visitors look for some amusement. The great show of the Cleveland Agricultural Society will take place there on Thursday next, which cannot fail to bring a large accession of visitors.
