TEES CONSERVANCY COMMISSION – SOUTH GARE.
The monthly meeting of the River Tees Conservancy Commission was held on Monday morning (06/04) at the office, Bridge Road, Stockton. It was stated by Mr Fallows that during the last fortnight the two dredges had removed 42,475 tons of solid matter from the bed of the river. The works at the South Gare Breakwater was going on very satisfactorily, and the plan suggested by the Engineer of depositing broken slag at the front of the tip end of the embankment as a foundation, had more than answered expectations, and they anticipated that the work would now progress much more rapidly than the last two or three years.
