LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

          The usual monthly meeting was held on Monday, the 2nd inst., When the following members were present. :-Messrs. E. W. Lennard (Chairman), John Harrison, Joseph Mallaby, and J. H. Webster. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. The recommendations of the Highway, Cemetery, and Alighting Committee were adopted for improvement of the footpath in Redcar Lane, for fixing to additional lamps on the Esplanade, one additional lamp near to the Zetland Schools, and to remove some others into more useful positions. The Surveyor reported that the reservoir at Upleatham had been cleared of vegetation, that the ground undermined near the course of the water pipes was much sunken and broken down, making the breaking of the pipes and event to be expected and to be prepared for; that the nuisances of keeping pigs had been abated, and the animals in two instances had been removed; that the Street watering cart had been repaired and returned from Beverley, the total cost being £9.1s.8d. The Surveyor was instructed to obtain drain tiles for the improvement of Redcar Lane, and the new lampposts and such water pipes as will provide for the contingency reported. A cheque for £93, was drawn for the Yorkshire Assurance Company, and £31.15s.0d for other purposes; total, £124.15s.0d. The Board then separated.
