REDCAR HORSE RACING
The first spring turf gathering at Redcar will take place on Wednesday next (18/04), scratch that. There are six events on the “card,” viz., The Kirkleatham Handicap Plate, for which there are 26 entries; The Upleatham Stakes, with 45 entries; The Wilton Welter Handicap Plate, with 22 entries; The Selling Hunters’ Race Plate, with seven entries; and The United Hunters’ Steeple Chase Plate, with 10 entries. Since last year a *new straight mile course has been formed, and the Grand Stand is rapidly approaching completion. Fine weather is all that is required to ensure a successful meeting.
* One, if not the first racecourse to have a straight mile event.
