TRAINS & RAILWAYS – Trips to Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Accreditation the Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea Gazette 29/06/1877.

TRIPS TO REDCAR AND SALTBURN-BY-THE-SEA

On Monday (25/06), a cheap excursion train was run from Stockton and Middlesbrough, and on Wednesday (27/06). A special train was run from the Etherley and Bishop Auckland district. Judging by the numbers who have patronised the above excursions, we think that the Railway Company would be consulting their own interests by running trips a little more frequently than has been the case of late years, which, in addition to a affording the toilets in our smoky inland towns the inestimable privilege of a day at the sea-side, greatly benefit the numerous small shopkeepers, who have frequently much difficulty in obtaining a livelihood.
