THE JUBILEE PETITIONS – National Refuge Harbour Society

Nearly all the corporations of Yorkshire and the Penistone Local Board have sent petitions to the Queen, praying that places of safety from times of storm and danger may be inaugurated in the Jubilee Year of Her reign, to prevent the occurrences of shipwrecks on our coasts and all the distress arising from them. These petitions have been sent through the Nation Refuge Harbour Society, 17, Parliament Street, London, from whom forms may be had either seafarers or land people. Many hundreds of these petitions are now being signed by corporations, Societies, and the general public. Everybody wishing to make this an occasion to help the poor and unfortunate should help in this work. The petitions will be brought under Her Majesty’s personal notice.
